They represent
an optimum solution in order to compensate document
bindings without destroying them during the digitization
process. Three book cradle versions are available,
depending on the thickness of the wished documents to
be digitized.
The advantages of such
options guarantee an optimal quality of digitization
while respecting document standards preservation. They
allow the operator to:
adjust the book
cradle plates depending on the thickness of the
document regardless of its dimensions after what
the plates will compensate the left and right parts
of the book.
place the whole
document so that the distance camera / height of
the document remains the best possible in order
to have a sharp and detailed resolution. (depth
of field).
Partially open
the document (for instance at 120°) when the
fragility of the binding does not permit a maximum,
flat opening at 180°.
For further flexibility,
the operator can lock the balancing system in any position.
Moreover, the i2S' book cradles do not integrate any
hydraulic system, therefore no liquid leaking spreads
out and no damage on the documents
can occur.

BOOK
CRADLE 12 / 90° - a mobile book cradle devoted
to A0 scanner
The Book Cradle 12/90°
is a book holder derived from the well-known Book Cradle
12 cm thickness which is already available with our
range of book scanners.
The use of the Book
Cradle 12/90° is dedicated to the A0 scanner and
allows the digitisation of bright documents including
strong curvatures. It maintains the work with a 90-degree
angle from the moving camera arm. We can note that
the Book Cradle 12/90° option can hold the book
in the standard position too (0 degree angle). More
compact, the Book Cradle 12/90° is a mobile
wheeled accessory. A glass option can also be adapted
upon it. Thanks to the very broad digitisation field
of the A0 scanner, the Book Cradle 12/90° allows
the digitisation of 2xA2 format documents whatever the
orientation is (0 or 90°).

What are the benefits
for a 90° angle orientation?
In spite of a lighting
particularly dedicated to bright documents, reflection
phenomena cannot always be eliminated in the curve area.
Despite the razing incidence of the illumination, the
curve always presents a favorable zone of reflecting
rays going to the camera. By positioning the work with
a 90° angle, the cruve of the book is perpendicular
to the camera line of digitalization, thus preventing
rfom the creation of stray reflections. Also thanks
to the 90° angle orientation, there is no longer
image deformation due to the curve. Other benefit:
the document scanning is faster since it is carried
out on the smallest dimension of the document.

the new option 500mm / 40kg book cradle. Its platens
are remoted by a very easy-to-use switchboard situated
on the right hand of the operator.
The book cradle system
adjusts the height of the plates depending on the required
resolution. This resolution is kept during the whole
digitization whatever the documents width thanks to
an automatic laser positionning system.

Otherwise, you can drive
the vertical position of each plate individually.
In the horizontal axis position of plates are manually
set-up depending on the size of the document. A cunning
mechanical device holds the position of both plates
according to the weight of the work.
